Solar irrigation pumps have the potential to break the agrarian impasse in Bihar by offering zero-marginal cost energy for irrigation, replacing the expensive and highly polluting diesel or kerosene powered motors. In April 2014, IWMI conducted field visits in Nalanda, Bihar to understand the impact and potential of solar irrigation pumps in Bihar.
